Who am I?
My name is Joseph Engel. I am a Denver based educator and performer with more than 18 years of musical experience. My experience spans multiple genres including classical, bluegrass, punk, alternative rock, West African drumming, and Balinese Gamelan. Drawing on various musical styles and disciplines, I incorporate many different approaches to learning and training to create a unique musical experience for each student.
I am an active member of Tunas Mekar, the Denver based Balinese Gamelan ensemble playing traditional and contemporary Balinese music. I am also a member of Milquetoast & Co., a highly unique group that twists Americana, Blues, and Rock into spooky and memorable tunes.
My educational background includes a Bachelors of Music in Cello Performance, and Music Theory and Composition from Jacksonville University, and a Masters in Music in Cello Performance from Denver University.
